PM Modi Highlights Northeast's Role in India's Semiconductor Mission
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a public gathering in Assam's Nalbari, reiterated his vision to position India as a global leader in semiconductor design, manufacturing, and technology development, emphasizing the Northeast's pivotal role in accelerating this mission.
Just last month, PM Modi laid the cornerstone for three semiconductor projects collectively valued at approximately Rs 1.25 lakh crore during the 'India's Techade: Chips for Viksit Bharat' initiative. These projects include semiconductor fabrication hubs at the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) in Gujarat, as well as Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facilities in Assam's Morigaon and Gujarat's Sanand.
"India commits, India delivers, and democracy delivers", PM Modi declared during the foundation stone laying ceremony on March 13, underscoring the imperative to propel India into a global semiconductor powerhouse. He noted the limited number of countries currently engaged in semiconductor manufacturing.
In his recent address, PM Modi lauded the Northeast as a prime example of his government's dedication to India's development, particularly in advancing the country's position in the semiconductor industry and enhancing youth employment prospects.
Highlighting the inauguration of a significant semiconductor facility in Assam, PM Modi projected over 15,000 job opportunities for the region's youth. He envisioned Assam emerging as a global semiconductor hub, marking a historic and transformative beginning that would foster regional development.
The India Semiconductor Mission initiated by the Modi government aims to cultivate a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem, promising a new era of innovation and employment opportunities spanning from Gujarat to the Northeast.
"Today, Modi's assurance resonates across the nation, and the Northeast stands as evidence of it", PM Modi proclaimed. He contrasted the BJP's approach of turning the Northeast from a region plagued by challenges, as purportedly done by the Congress, into a beacon of opportunities under his leadership. PM Modi attributed Congress's alleged fueling of separatism to BJP's efforts in promoting peace and security, accomplishing in ten years what Congress purportedly couldn't achieve in six decades.
